Mission Statement

Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club collects, organizes, and distributes funds to support the Wilberforce University Women’s gymnastics team. The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club assists with educational and gymnastics-related expenses and facilitates mental, physical, medical, and emotional support to all team members.

The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club is an independently run and operated charitable organization committed to supporting the growth of HBCU Gymnastics.

The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club does not discriminate based on sex, age, race, creed, sexual orientation, political or religious beliefs of the Wilberforce Gymnastics team members, staff, families, affiliates, or donors. 

About Us

Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club is a public, tax-exempt organization under section 501(c)(3). We are committed to promoting excellence, access, and equity in collegiate gymnastics through our support of the Wilberforce University Women’s Gymnastics Program - one of only two historically Black colleges and universities (HBCUs) currently offering women’s gymnastics. We are also proud supporters of the HBCU Gymnastics Alliance©, working to advance diversity and inclusion in collegiate gymnastics.

Our mission as a federal tax-exempt charitable organization is to secure and disperse funding and donations which ensure that every student-athlete on the gymnastics team has the resources, mentorship, and support necessary to thrive both academically and athletically as an HBCU collegiate gymnast. Funds or donations from your organization would directly enable us to provide key resources, including training equipment, travel assistance, uniforms, medical support, sports rehabilitation services, merit scholarships, mental health initiatives, and meals for current and aspiring HBCU gymnasts.

The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club was founded by parent volunteers in October 2024 in support of the inaugural team and continues to be run by volunteer parents, alumni, and community advocates who recognize the importance and legacy of HBCUs in shaping opportunity, culture, and pride. Thanks to the dedication and support of our Board of Directors and generous donors, we are proudly able to ensure that 99% of donations are directed towards team essentials, and less than 1% is directed to organizational and operational costs such as promotional materials, social media, website hosting, and event coordination.

Through donations and Gifts-In-Kind to our organization, we work to showcase the strength, resilience, community, and excellence of HBCU athletics - while increasing diversity and visibility in a sport where representation has historically been limited. Our organization works to highlight how HBCUs continue to break barriers and create new pathways for young athletes, reflecting the spirit of leadership, empowerment, and excellence that defines the sport of gymnastics.

The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club is an independently operating organization, with a duly appointed parent-volunteer board of directors to oversee all operations of the organization, vote on the disposition of funds, plan events, and provide any necessary additional support during the collegiate gymnastics season. The organizational operations are governed by voted and signed ByLaws.

The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club was not founded by, nor is it part of, or directly affiliated with Wilberforce University. The university bears no legal liability for the actions, operations, or publicly expressed opinions of the Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club.

The Wilberforce Gymnastics Booster Club has been duly awarded and established by the IRS with the distinction of a Tax Exempt 501(c)(3) Charitable Organization, effective date 16 October 2024.
